The rising K-pop group XLOV brought their European Tour 2026 to Greece on February 4. The live concert took place at Universe Multivenue in Athens, gathering approximately 1,500 fans for a two-hour performance, marking another milestone for the steadily growing Korean music scene in the country.

The Athens stop was organized through a collaboration between Envol Production and 5 Oceans Studio, with local support from TMR Entertainment (venue management), BLANK Entertainment (Entertainment PR), K-pop World Greece (managing partner & booking representative) and K-WAVE Greece (volunteers). The fact that Greece was included in the European leg reflects the increasing recognition of Southern Europe as an emerging and sustainable K-pop market, supported by a highly organized and culturally active fanbase.
General admission doors opened at 19:30 and the main concert lasted from 20:30 to 22:00. Prior to the main performance, the event followed a structured program that extended beyond a standard concert format. Specifically, selected ticket holders participated in a sequence of exclusive fan engagement activities: a “Tea Time” Q&A session, an album/item signing, group photos, soundcheck access, gifts and more.

XLOV’s performance blended high-energy choreography, emotional storytelling and direct artist-audience connection. The setlist featured their title tracks and well-known songs from other global K-pop artists. Throughout the show, artist talk segments allowed members to express their gratitude to Greek fans – at times even speaking in Greek – a gesture that was met with overwhelming cheers. The encore transformed the venue into a unified chorus, with fans singing along enthusiastically and extending the emotional resonance of the night. The interaction felt genuine and spontaneous, transforming the concert into a shared experience rather than just a performance.

Despite last-minute adjustments regarding press arrangements, including the cancellation of a local press conference, the event was executed smoothly through real-time coordination between international teams, local organizers and on-site staff. Crowd flow management and media access required immediate problem solving, highlighting the increasingly professional framework supporting K-pop events in Greece.
To gain deeper insight into what happened behind the scenes, I interviewed Goldie Chatzitheodorou, known professionally as Goldienim. She is a cultural ambassador, PR and communications specialist, and President of K-WAVE Greece. Active since 2014, she has been a central figure in strengthening cultural bridges between Greece and Korea through institutional collaborations, concerts and media initiatives. Goldie attended the XLOV concert as both a cultural leader and an experienced organizer within the Korean culture scene.

In an email interview conducted from Feb. 10 to Feb. 18, Goldie reflected on the concert and on the broader evolution of K-pop in Greece.
You attended the XLOV concert as someone deeply involved in the Korean culture scene in Greece. How would you describe the overall experience and atmosphere of the event?
The atmosphere was powerful, emotionally sincere, and highly engaged. Greek fans are expressive and deeply invested, which creates an intense but welcoming concert environment. Beyond the energy inside the venue, what stood out was the maturity of the audience, organized fan support, coordinated cheering, and strong knowledge of the group’s music. This level of engagement demonstrates that Greece is not just passionate, but structurally ready to host international K-pop productions.
What goes on behind the scenes of organizing or supporting a K-pop concert in Greece that fans usually don’t get to see?
What fans rarely see is the level of coordination required between international teams, local promoters, venue management, press representatives, and community groups. Managing guest lists, media access, security flow, translation needs, and real-time problem solving requires constant communication, diplomacy, and quick decision-making. Thankfully, on that day, I had several members of my team from K-WAVE Greece present with me. Due to their past experience in similar events, they were able to act quickly and efficiently whenever situations arose, coordinating directly with security and assisting fans when needed. Their responsiveness helped resolve ongoing issues smoothly and ensured that the overall experience remained positive and safe for everyone involved.
How did the artists react to the Greek audience and the local K-pop community?
They appeared genuinely surprised by the intensity of the crowd. The audience sang along loudly and maintained strong engagement throughout the show. There was visible emotional exchange between the artists and the audience.

Do you feel that the Greek audience’s relationship with K-pop has changed over the years? If yes, how?
Absolutely! Ten years ago, K-pop was a niche. Today, it is structured, organized, and culturally integrated. We now see academic interest, institutional collaborations, and a more mature fan culture that understands both the artistic and industry aspects of Korean entertainment.
As President of K-WAVE Greece, you’ve been involved in Korean culture initiatives for over a decade. How does this concert fit into the broader mission of K-WAVE Greece?
K-WAVE Greece has always aimed to build sustainable cultural bridges rather than isolated moments. Concerts like this represent more than a single event, they signal that Greece can operate within the professional framework required for international touring. By strengthening collaboration between promoters, institutions, media, and fan communities, we are gradually positioning Greece as a stable and strategic cultural partner in Southeastern Europe.
In 2024, you were recognized by Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. What did that recognition mean to you personally and professionally?
Being recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea in 2024 was both deeply personal and professionally affirming! It validated over a decade of consistent cultural diplomacy work and reinforced the importance of long-term relationship building between our countries.

Do you see Greece becoming a more frequent destination for K-pop artists in the future?
Yes, and I believe this development can happen strategically and sustainably! Greece offers a unique geographic advantage, serving not only its domestic audience but also fans from the Balkans and neighboring regions. With proper coordination, venue development, and consistent market testing, Athens has the potential to function as a regional entry point into Southeastern Europe. The passion is already here. The next step is structural consistency.
